Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

3 large eggs
1/4 cup plus 1 of tablespoon sugar
1 cup of whole milk
Grated zest of 1 orange
2 tablespoons of fresh orange juice
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
4 croissants
1/2 cup of orange marmalade

Directions

Firstly whisk the eggs, quarter cup sugar, the milk, orange zest, orange juice and vanilla in a large bowl. Then put the croissants in an 8-inch-square baking dish, squeezing them in to fit in a single layer. After that pour the egg mixture over the croissants, and put a plate on top and press down to keep them submerged. Then let it soak in the refrigerator, at least thirty minutes and up to one hour.

Next, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and remove the plate from the croissants, cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake until set, for about forty minutes. Then remove from the oven and turn on the broiler. After that uncover the baking dish, sprinkle with the remaining one tablespoon of sugar and broil until the sugar is bubbling in spots, for about two minutes.

In the meantime, mix the marmalade with quarter cup water in a small microwave-safe bowl; microwave until warm, for 1-2 minutes. In the end serve on the side. Enjoy.
